CD36 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a key fatty acid transporter and sensor, playing a crucial role in lipid metabolism. It is involved in the recognition and phagocytosis of lipids by macrophages and has been implicated in inflammatory responses and cardiovascular diseases.
